Cherish the good old days

  Life is full of things and people that are precious to us, but we don’t know what we’ve got until we lose them. Just as the lyrics in a song put it,“ Well you only need the light when it’s burning low, only miss the sun when it starts to snow, only know you love her when you let her go.”

  When I was a primary student, I spent almost every summer vacation with my grandparents in the countryside. I really enjoyed myself there. In front of the house we lived in ran a little stream, my grandpa often took me there to catch fish and shrimps, which was of great fun. And then my grandma cooked these for dinner. Her “magic” in cooking was so wonderful that I always ate a lot. At night, we would sit in the yard to enjoy the cool and share some interesting stories. I still remember how bright the moonlight was and how gentle the wind was.

However, things changed completely since I went to junior high school. I was lost in the “wonderland” of computers and life in the countryside didn't appeal to me any more. I would rather stay at home to play computer games than visit my grandparents who I thought couldn't keep up with the times. What’s more, it was quite inconvenient to live there. They still insisted on inviting me to have dinner with them on weekends though I was unwilling to do so.

  Now I’m in senior high school, and I can hardly spare my time to visit my grandparents because of the heavy work. I regret treating them badly. How childish I was at that time! I begin to miss the pink peaches my grandma picked for me and the paper kites my grandpa and I made together. I begin to miss the kind smiles on their faces and the warmth from their hugs…How time flies！My grandparents are getting older and older as I grow up. I finally realize that the good old days we spent together have gone.

  It’s a pity that we always take the love from people who really care about us for granted. No wonder we will gradually lose something beautiful in pain. Life is short, people come and people go. Therefore, my dear friend, treasure everyone and everything that appear in your life as the gifts from God and cherish the good old days.
