Spare that car

When I was eight, my dad used to ask me, “Do you want to have a car?’‘No.’ I refused, determined and loudly. Now I am sixteen, dad still asks me，‘Do you want to have a car?’‘No .’I said, more hesitantly and quietly.

So great is our passion for owning a car that an ocean of people go out of their way to follow the trend for the numerous advantages that a car provides, both in reality and in psychology. Environmentalist as I am, I can not escape from the temptations of buying a car, the most vital one of which is convenience. No one can deny the importance role that cars play in modern life. We would spend more time on roads were it not for the benefits we take from them. Cars make it far more easier for us to go to work, pick up kids or even go for a picnic with the family. Moreover, Owning a car satisfies people’s vanity, and is a symbol of status and identity depending on the prices and brands of the car.

Yet, on the contrary, owning a car tends to make you lazy. You are not willing to cover a long distance on foot or even by bike. What is more, you are more likely to wait until the last minute to set out to a destination , and the result is always that you are late ,which is likely to madden others. Additionally, when it comes to cars, another problem which can not be neglected is the increasingly serious air pollution. As soon as more cars are on the roads, more and more gas is produced, global warming and haze threatens to overwhelm us. The demand of more parking spaces drive people to cut down trees and destroy the greening of the community, until eventually the grass fields are replaced by hardened pavement painted with lines.

But, in fact, it’s not cars which give rise to all the problems and complications but the inadequate ways in which people use them. The best solutions of it, so at least it seems to me, are to make it possible for us to carry out a more public and environmentally friendly mode of transport, like the car-sharing or the clean quiet and economical electric vehicle. With the development of modern society and science and technology, car-sharing, a convenient and environmentally friendly mode of transport has been familiar to us. It does not require you to own a car, nor does it take up such much space, but casually parks here and there, waiting for the demander to pick it up. By adopting this, not only can we reduce the amount of cars on the roads but also protect the environment. I am sure that car -sharing will become a hit in our country, much the way bike-sharing does. Now I can say with confidence and determination that I don’t need a car anymore.
